The West Bengal government has extended the UG admission registration deadline to August 5, 2025, at midnight, following the Supreme Court’s clearance of the WBJEE and admissions under the revised OBC list. Students can update or upload their social category details on the centralized portal by this deadline. A total of 460 state-run and aided colleges under 17 universities are participating in the 2025–26 admission cycle.
This extension was necessary due to a delay caused by a Calcutta High Court stay on the state’s revised OBC list, which was dismissed by the Supreme Court on July 28, 2025, allowing the admission process to restart. Candidates who do not update their social category information by the deadline will be considered in default and no further changes will be accepted after August 5.
If you miss the deadline of August 5, you will not be able to make any changes to your social category and your application may be considered incomplete.
You can update your social category details on the centralized portal before the mentioned deadline.
Yes, you will need to provide various documents proving your eligibility and claims based on the OBC list, as specified on the admission portal.
The admission portal was opened on July 17, 2025.
The Higher Secondary exam results for the state board were published on May 7, 2025.
