If you were waiting for the full RRB Station Master Recruitment 2026 notification after last month's short notice, it is now live — and it changes one number worth noting. The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have published the detailed Centralised Employment Notice CEN 08/2026 for Station Master, and Corrigendum No. 1, issued on 27-10-2026, corrects the total vacancy figure to 1,265 posts. This is the first time Station Master is being recruited through a separate CEN rather than as part of the NTPC graduate-level drive, and the selection route is shorter than the old NTPC path: a single-stage computer-based test, then an aptitude test, document verification and a medical examination.

Category-wise, the Annexure-B distribution is: UR 542, SC 176, ST 104, OBC-NCL 296 and EWS 147, with 133 ex-servicemen seats included in the total. A note on the numbers: the indicative notice spoke of about 1,250 posts, and the summary table on page 3 of the detailed CEN printed 1,215 by mistake. Corrigendum No. 1 dated 27-10-2026 corrects that summary figure to 1,265, matching the RRB-wise table. All vacancies are provisional and may increase, decrease or become nil.
Applicants need a bachelor's degree (graduation) in any discipline — arts, science, commerce, engineering or equivalent — from a recognised university or institution. There is no separate percentage bar stated in the CEN summaries; read the detailed CEN for the exact qualification conditions and for the list of RRBs and zones, since candidates must apply to one RRB only.
| Minimum Age (as on 01-01-2027) | 20 years |
| Maximum Age (as on 01-01-2027) | 33 years |
| Age Relaxation | As per RRB rules for reserved categories |
| Medical Standard | A-2 |
| Category | Fee |
|---|---|
| General / OBC / EWS | Rs. 500 (Rs. 400 refunded on appearing in the CBT) |
| SC / ST / PwBD / Female / Minority / EBC / Ex-Servicemen | Rs. 250 (refunded on appearing in the CBT, as per CEN conditions) |
Unlike the NTPC graduate-level scheme, there is no second-stage CBT here — the single CBT is followed directly by the aptitude test. The final merit is drawn as per the CEN's rules for the CBT and CBAT weightage; check the detailed CEN before relying on any cut-off estimate.
The Railway Recruitment Boards conduct recruitment for Group C posts in Indian Railways. Station Masters manage train operations at stations — signals, crossings, passenger safety and coordination with control — and the post carries Level 6 pay under the 7th Central Pay Commission.
