The selection test is an offline, objective-type paper of 80 questions carrying 100 marks, to be finished in two hours. It has three sections: the Mental Ability Test with 40 questions for 50 marks in 60 minutes, the Arithmetic Test with 20 questions for 25 marks in 30 minutes, and the Language Test with 20 questions for 25 marks in 30 minutes. There is no negative marking, and differently-abled candidates get additional time as per the rules. Your own hall ticket carries your centre address and reporting time, so go by what it says if any general schedule differs.
The test is for students seeking admission to Class VI in a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in their own district. Applicants must be studying in Class V during the 2026-27 academic year, having studied Classes III, IV and V in a government or government-aided school, and must have been born between 01-05-2015 and 31-07-2017. A student who has already appeared for the test once is not eligible to appear again.
