The Naval Ship Repair Yard has announced an apprenticeship program that offers numerous opportunities for aspiring candidates, particularly those who are associated with the armed forces. As per Section 3.6 of Chapter II of the Apprenticeship Training Manual, there is a reservation of 3% of overall vacancies specifically for Ex-Servicemen and their families, ensuring that candidates from these backgrounds have the opportunity to apply and thrive in this program.
Vacancy Reservation Details
- Children of deceased/disabled Ex-Servicemen, including those killed/disabled in peace time
- Children of Ex-Servicemen
- Children of Serving Jawans
- Children of Serving Officers
- Ex-Servicemen
Please note that the vacancies reserved for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Ex-Servicemen will be adjusted in the respective categories of UR/OBC/SC/ST. In the event that reserved vacancies are unfilled due to a lack of eligible candidates, those vacancies will be filled by candidates outside these categories. However, unfilled vacancies will not carry over to the next enrollment.
Payment of Stipend to Apprentices
According to Section 13 of the Apprenticeship Act 1961, the stipend for apprentices is as follows:
- Rs. 7,700/- for one-year IT certificate holders
- Rs. 8,500/- for two-year IT certificate holders
Selection Process
The selection of candidates will follow a structured process:
- Shortlisting for Interview: Preliminary selection will be based on a merit list drawn trade-wise and category-wise from the aggregate percentage of marks obtained in IT finals and Std X. The top candidates will be called for interviews, which will take place at Sri Vijaya Puram and will assess technical skills.
- Final Merit List: The final merit list will combine interview marks, and in case of ties, candidates will be ranked by date of birth and alphabetical order of their names.

- SSC/Matriculation Marks Certificate
- ITI Marks Certificate
- Aadhaar Card
- Caste Certificate (if applicable)
- PwD Certificate (if applicable)

Medical Examination
