The Naval Ship Repair Yard has announced an apprenticeship program that offers numerous opportunities for aspiring candidates, particularly those who are associated with the armed forces. As per Section 3.6 of Chapter II of the Apprenticeship Training Manual, there is a reservation of 3% of overall vacancies specifically for Ex-Servicemen and their families, ensuring that candidates from these backgrounds have the opportunity to apply and thrive in this program.
Please note that the vacancies reserved for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Ex-Servicemen will be adjusted in the respective categories of UR/OBC/SC/ST. In the event that reserved vacancies are unfilled due to a lack of eligible candidates, those vacancies will be filled by candidates outside these categories. However, unfilled vacancies will not carry over to the next enrollment.
According to Section 13 of the Apprenticeship Act 1961, the stipend for apprentices is as follows:

All applicants must obtain a medical fitness certificate from a governmental hospital.
No travel expenses will be reimbursed for candidates attending interviews or document verification.

Ex-Servicemen and their families are eligible for a 3% reservation in the recruitment process as per the outlined categories.
The stipend will be based on the duration of the IT certificate held by the apprentice; Rs. 7,700/- for one-year holders and Rs. 8,500/- for two-year holders.
Interviews will be conducted at Sri Vijaya Puram.
The training is scheduled to start on 21 Oct 2025.
