The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) invites applications for the Biotech Industrial Training Programme (BITP) for the year 2025-26, aimed at providing valuable hands-on training to students in the biotechnology and life sciences sectors. This program offers an excellent opportunity for students to enhance their educational qualifications and gain practical experience in industry settings.
Program Overview
The DBT-BK Project Management Unit at the Regional Centre for Bioinformatics (RCB), Faridabad, oversees the implementation of this program. The BITP seeks to train students alongside industry experts, ensuring they acquire relevant skills that align with real-world project requirements.
Attention Biotechnology Industry
We are reaching out to companies engaged in biotechnology & life sciences, such as Drugs & Pharmaceuticals, Diagnostics, Agri-Biotech, Biomedical, Environmental, Industrial Biotechnology, Therapeutics, Genomics & Proteomics, Bio-services, Veterinary, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, etc. These companies are invited to partner in the training initiative by providing hands-on training opportunities for students and can download the Requisition Form from the official DBT website.
Attention Biotechnology Students
Eligibility criteria for applicants are as follows:
- Students with B.E/B.Tech/M.Sc/M.Tech/M.VSc/MBA in Biotechnology/Bioinformatics.
- Degrees must be from Indian recognized Universities with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grades, completed in the years 2022-23, 2023-24, or 2022-25.
Selection Process
Selections will be made based on a computer-based test conducted at multiple centers across India. The candidates must meet the eligibility criteria to be considered for selection, and trainer companies will be assigned based on availability.

Stipend Structure
DBT will disburse a monthly stipend of ₹10,000 upon successful completion of six months of training. Additionally, trainees will receive a minimum stipend of ₹9,000 per month from sponsoring companies, adhering to apprenticeship norms.
Certification
At the end of the training period, candidates will undergo an online assessment by the Sector Skill Council to qualify for the 'Apprenticeship Certificate' under the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF).
